Hua Hin Acttractions

 

There are numerous sightseeing opportunities in and around Hua Hin and Cha-Am. In addition to several temples and palaces, there are natural attractions like waterfalls, caves, isolated beaches, mangrove swamps, mountain vistas and a variety of animal life. Although it is possible to use public transport to reach some of the attractions, those without a set of wheels often take one or more tours operated by one of the tour operators in the area. All these past developments have set the stage for Hua Hin's popularity and unique ambiance, which remains to this day.

Kaeng Krachan National Park
With an area of 3000 sqkm, this is the largest national park in Thailand. Located primarily in the mountains adjacent to Myanmar, and about 40km from Hua Hin, it has lots of rain and an abundance of rainforests and some grassland areas. Animal life includes tigers, deer, bears, gibbons, hornbills, wild elephants and dusky langurs. One of the park's most popular attractions is the eleven-tiered Namtok Pa-La-U waterfall. This park is difficult to access so the falls are best visited on an organized tour. Several tour agent is Hua Hin provide tours to the falls and other areas of the park.
Hua Hin Railway Station
Hua Hin Railway Station Built in the reign of King Rama VI, this is one of Thailand's most beautiful and oldest train stations of which the local people are very proud. Its most striking feature is the splendid Royal Waiting Room constructed in the Thai architectural style. The room was relocated from Sanam Chan Palace in Nakhon Pathom Province.
Maruekhathaiyawan Palace
Maruekkhathayawan Palace is referred to as "the palace of love and hope". The palace was built in 1920's during the reign of King Rama VI as a summer palace. The Palace using golden teakwood from the demolished Hat Chao Samran Palace. Open daily from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM, it is located 9km south of Cha-Am at the Camp Rama VI military compound.
Khao Hin Lek Fai
Hin Lek Fai Hill is found 1.5km to the west of Hua Hin city center. A trip up the steep road to the top provides a scenic view of the town, beach, the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course and the Gulf of Thailand. There is a small park on the hilltop with trails leading to the various viewpoints.
Khao Takiap
This hill is only 4 kms. south of Hua Hin, this 227meters rocky hill provides striking views of Hua Hin and nearby Koh Singto Island. There is a road leading to the top where a temple and restaurant situated. The nearby Khao Takiap beach offers mostly bungalow accommodation. To get to this beach, visitors may take a local minibus from Hua Hin.
Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park
The 4 kilometers canal trip along the Klong Khao Daeng is a great way to spent an hour or so. It is a good way to stay cool in the evening, or a great place to see birds early in the morning. The scenery is breathtaking and you may spot a monitor lizard out for a swim or some monkeys swinging through the branches. You can ask for someone to take you at the park headquarters or just go to the village and find someone. The fisherman and his wife do not speak english
Panee Butterfly Garden
It's opposite in the Klai Kangwon Palace. There are plenty of butterflies and some beautiful birds which are sorrounded with orchids, flowers and local plants. There is also a herbal section with rare herbal plants. It's best to go there when the butterflies are in full bloom and so with the flowers. Thai Boxing
There are two places in Hua Hin to watch Thai boxing. Matches are held at the Grand Arena in front of the Grand Hotel on Thursday and Sunday nights and at Mr. Chop Rawee's Thai Boxing Garden near the City Beach Hotel on Tuesday and Friday. The matches at both venues begin at 9.00 PM and finish up a little before midnight.
Klai Kangwon Palace
King Rama VII built this palace for the Queen located on the beach just north of central Hua Hin as a summer home. Designed in a European style with a Spanish flare it was completed in 1929 and is still used by the Royal Family. In addition to extremely attractive buildings and furnishings, there are carefully manicured gardens and a fascinating shell museum when the Palace isn't being used, it is open to the public each day between 9.00am to 4.00pm.
Khao Krailat
Located near Khao Takiap, this steep hill lends its name to the temple that is located there. The temple of the Thamayut sect houses an impressive collection of religious art. The temple belongs to a Buddhist denomination originally founded by King Rama IV and showcases a collection of large Buddha images dating back several hundred years. To get there, take the bus from the Dechanuchit Road station which departs every 20 minutes from 6:00am to 4:00pm daily.
Khao Tao
Khao Tao is a small village around 15km south of Khao Takiap. The biggest attraction here is the large Khao Tao temple complex and the delightful little bay and beach at Hat Sai Noi. To get there turn left off the highway at the sign for Khao Tao, over the railway and turn right before the lake, follow it round and keep to the left at the fork.
Koh Singto
Koh Singto is popular for fishing, sailing and diving. Boat rentals can be made at Khao Takiep village. Where the fine white beach is lined with bungalows and food shops. Buses to this area depart from Dechanuchit Road station every 20 minutes.
Hua Hin Arts and Crafts Centre
This is located on Naepkhehat Road in Hua Hin. There is an old typical house, more than 80 years old. The center features a private collection of contemporary works of many Thai artists-paintings, sculptures and local handicrafts, as well as old furniture and many pictures about Hua Hin in the past.
